web services - What are some good alternatives to a UDDI registry? -
I work as an intern application developer in a large organization prototype SOA. I am new to web services and technologies such as WSDL, SOAP, UDDI, and so on.
Last week, I have had a lot of difficulty in understanding UDID, and how to use it. It is effectively the consensus on the Internet that the UDDI is dead, either too complicated , Unnecessary, or interrupt for most use cases. Some websites indicate that UDDI is useful only as an internal registry within an organization and it is by the business partners of the Universal Business Registry, for which it was designed.
What are some options of UDDI? What are the other ways in which web services can be published so that developers can get details and technical details without any complexity that UDDI seems to have? Is there really a good business case for using the UDII registry?
Many open source repository options for Registry / UDDI.
I am an architect in WSO2, so my answer may be biased - however WOSO 2 is not the only open source option.
The WSO 2 Governance Registry is an open source, integrated SOA registry-repository, which supports you to efficiently manage your organization's growing SOA. The WSO 2 provides an easy-to-use metadata collection with support for a rich model for the Governance Registry full version, lifecycle management, users / roles / permissions and social features such as tagging, rating, and comments. You can easily add services and other resources through the web-based user interface.
There is also WS Discovery support in the WSO 2 Governance Registry.
WS Discovery is a technical specification that defines a Multicast Discovery Protocol to detect services on a local network.
